Fungus on Tanbark
It's been a long time since I took this photo. This one has meaning for me because it was also the first photo I took that was published. I also like the image a lot. I don't remember where or when it was published anymore and my copy of the publication is long gone, but it remains a special image. The photo was taken on a trail that remains special for me. Tanbark Trail is a peaceful place to go and rejuvenate yourself. I returned there yesterday to tap its magical powers.

Wintertime Goat Island
I almost never stay in the Falls during trips to the area, but in March 2005 I needed to be in Niagara Falls for a few days of business meetings. I went walking at dawn one very cold morning and found myself at a very deserted Goat Island. I was impressed by the permanent changes the wind had made to the shape of the trees.

Water Lily - Deleware Water Gap
We had the visited Delaware Water Gap in June 2004 for a hiking vacation. It was a wonderful area with very nice hiking. This image was taken at a small lake at one of the trailheads during our hiking adventures. We didn't get to see the black bear that excited some hikers we passed headed in the opposite direction, but we got to see some vistas and this water lily.

Metzenbaum Park
These photos were taken at the park nearest our home. It is one of our favorite parks because it is near home; the dogs enjoy visiting; there are wonderful wildflowers; and the bird population is exceptional. Though only 68 acres, this park regularly has multiple scarlet tanagers, rufous-sided towhees, and owls mixing their calls with an abundance of more common birds in the area. These photos were taken in October 2002.

Walking the Ashtabula Greenway Trail
We were searching for a friend's new caches on the Ashtabula Greenway Trail in May 2006 when I took this photo. I stayed back a bit to let Ali and our Aussie Gwen move to the distance. The shot is different for us because the Aussie is 'my' dog and will almost certainly stop and turn back toward me if she gets too far ahead. For some reason, she stayed with Ali while I walked Eva.
